water resources
Smart management of water resources is critical to the American Southwest. Scientists at SME provide innovative, cost-effective and efficient water resource analysis to fulfill the diverse needs of its clientele; private landowners, mining companies, tribal entities, and government agencies.
Permitting
Backed by decades of experience in the industry, SME has streamlined the potentially burdensome process of water resource management and permitting for Stormwater, NPDES (Industrial and Commercial), CWA (Section 404 and 401), and State and Federal Compliance. Efficient and knowledgeable in the regulatory process, SME enjoys professional relationships with local, state and federal regulators.
Water Rights
SME staff performs due diligence assessments for water rights; obtains well permits from the Office of the State Engineer; or researches water rights in relation to ditches and diversions. SME works closely with water attorneys, as needed, throughout the process.
Water Quality Monitoring
SME has the tools to perform surface water and groundwater monitoring, either as a discrete project or a compliment to other services, such as discharge/effluent monitoring and acid mine drainage for permitting and compliance monitoring. Water quality sampling design and monitoring can be performed for NPDES, TMDL permits or other state and federal programs, as necessary.
Stream/Wetland Design
Well managed landscapes improve wildlife habitat and aesthetic value. The SME team has a distinct blend of landscape architects, wetland scientists, biologists and water resource scientists that provide stream/wetland design and planting plans for the creation, enhancement and restoration of such areas. Site design can also incorporate water quality treatment to improve downstream water quality and ease development permitting.
Surface and Groundwater Hydrology
Additional water resource services include water budget studies, recharge and consumptive use analysis, groundwater impact studies, water depletion analysis, irrigation and natural inputs calculations, flow measurements, and watershed assessments.
